Vietnam: The Unit No2 of Xekaman Hydropower plant No1 has synchronized with
National Power System
Information from the Central Power Corporation (EVNCPC) said, on November
29, 2016, the Unit No2 of Xekaman Hydropower plant (HPP) No1 has
successfully synchronized with national power system.
The Xekaman HPP No1 located in territory of Sanxay and Saysetha districts,
Atapeu province, Lao PDR, in about 100 km from Vietnam - Laos border Bo Y
(Kontum) - Phu Cua (Atapeu) border gate).
The Xekaman HPP No1 is a project in upper cascade of Xekaman HPP ensemble in
Xekaman River basin including two cascades (Xekaman No1 in upper and Xekaman
Sanxay with a capacity of 32 MW (2x16 MW) in lower cascade) with total
capacity of 322 MW and total investment level of $441million.
The The Xekaman HPP No1 has a capacity of 290 MW including two units (2x145
MW) and is developed by Vietnam - Laos Power Joint Stock Company (75%) and
Lao PDR government (25%) in BOT scheme with a term of 30 year.
The construction of the project was started in 2011 and its unit No1 o was
put into operation in 2015. After successful synchronizing unit No2, the
almost electricity generation of over one billion kWh of the project would
be transmitted to Vietnam via the 220 kV double circuit line (184 km) from
the project to 500 kV transformer substation Pleiku No2.
