Vietnam: PM approves Quảng Bình solar power project adjustments
Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc has approved adjustments to the solar power project in the central province of Quảng Bình, which is funded by South Korea's official development assistance.
Under the project, solar panels will be installed in households and administrative buildings in hamlets in communes that the national grid has not reached.
The project will be carried out in eight border communes of four districts – Ngân Thủy and Kim Thủy of Lệ Thủy District, Trường Xuân and Trường Sơn of Quảng Ninh District, Thượng Trạch, Tân Trạch and Sơn Trạch of Bố Trạch District and Trọng Hóa of Minh Hóa District.
The project is expected to provide solar power to more than 1,200 households in 40 hamlets once it is completed on July 1, 2018.
The US$13.7 million project was launched on July 1, 2015, with the initial aim that 46 hamlets in nine communes in the four districts get access to solar electricity. It was scheduled to begin operation in the fourth quarter of this year.
