Indonesia's PLN opens tender for 168 MW of PV

Indonesian state-owned utility PT PLN has opened tender procedures for the
addition of 168 MW of solar power capacity in Sumatra, in support of the
country's target for a 23% renewables share by 2025.

The tender has so far attracted interest from 116 parties, the Jakarta Post
said Monday, citing PLN's corporate planning director Nicke Widyawati. Power
purchase agreements (PPAs) with selected bidders are to be signed within the
next five to six months.

PLN's power procurement plan for 2017-2026 envisages the addition of 632 MW
of renewable energy capacity this year, with nearly half to be geothermal.
The company intends to hold tenders for renewables on a regional basis.

According to the Jakarta Post, in 2026 PLN will buy 21,560 MW of electricity
from renewable energy sources, about 58% of which will be from hydropower
plants.
