Myanmar: Gas production declines at Yetagon and Zawtika

The Ministry of Electric Power and Energy's presentation at the Myanmar
Investment Forum.
Output at the Yetagon and Zawtika gas projects, which export to Thailand,
has declined, according to the Ministry of Electric Power and Energy.

Chief engineer Dr Maung Maung Kyaw of the ministry told the Myanmar
Investment Forum in Nay Pyi Taw that the Yadana project was producing 650
million cubic feet of natural gas per day for export and 200 million cubic
feet for domestic use.

Yetagon project was producing 250 million cubic feet and Shwe was producing
450 million cubic feet per day to export and 100 million cubic feet for
domestic use, it said. The Zawtika project was producing 250 million cubic
feet for export and 80 million cubic feet for domestic use.

The Myanmar Electric Power Convention in 2014 said Yadana produced 711
million cubic for export and 119 million cubic feet for domestic use,
Yetagon produced 330 million cubic feet for export, Shwe produced 379
million cubic feet for export and 17 million cubic feet for domestic use and
Zawtika produced 279 million cubic feet for export and 64 million cubic feet
for domestic use.

The production has declined at Yetagon and Zawtika.

"We are exploring more gas fields. But we have to import some liquefied
natural gas," Maung Maung Kyaw said.

In 2014, the four projects overall produced 1.89 billion cubic feet per day
and 1.98 billion cubic feet today. Output at Shwe and Yadana had increased,
according to the ministry.
