GE to operate SPR Energy's Kimanis Sabah power plant in Malaysia

SPR Energy has signed an 18-year operations and maintenance (O&M) deal with
GE for Kimanis Sabah combined-cycle power facility in Malaysia.

As part of the deal, GE will supply two 6B gas turbines, two heat recovery
steam generators and non-GE steam turbine for the facility.

Under the multiyear agreement, GE will implement its asset performance
management (APM) suite of digital solutions for better functioning of the
facility.

The OEM-agnostic software will help in analyzing data from connected assets
round the clock from GE's monitoring and diagnostics (M&D) center in Kuala
Lumpur.

Later, the data will be analyzed through real-time diagnostics,
troubleshooting and condition forecasting to enhance plant reliability and
reduce downtime.

Data processed by the APM solution will help in cutting maintenance costs,
improve inspection intervals and offer better insights into operational
risks.

GE's power services president and CEO Paul McElhinney said: "We have a
longstanding relationship with SPR Energy built on years of mutual respect
and trust, and we are delighted to help them find alternative solutions for
its day-to-day management and improve their operations at the plant."

SPR Energy selected GE for its ability to provide end-to-end total plant
solutions and its previous work with the company.

SPR Energy chief executive director Chris Sy Choon Yen said: "At SPR, we
constantly seek catalysts and transformations that lead to sustainable
growth outcomes and help meet growing power demands in the State of Sabah."

"Strategically, it makes sense for us to enlist a single trusted and
credible service provider to help upgrade, manage and modernized our
existing assets, which consist of equipment from various power generation
companies, at our Kimanis facility."

By 2020, the Malaysian government intends to increase power generation
capacity by 10GW through developing 13 new power plants and expanding three
existing facilities.

The company said that the deal is part of its strategy to increase power
production, in line with country's goal.

Last month, GE signed an 8-year O&M agreement with alaysian state
government-owned utility and energy development firm Sarawak Energy Berhad
(SEB) for Tanjung Kidurong Power Station in Bintulu, Sarawak.
