Philippines: Napocor commissions new power gensets in Polillo Island Diesel
Power Plant

The National Power Corp. announced last week that it has inaugurated four
new generating sets with a total rated capacity of 2.4 megawatts (MW) in its
Polillo Island Diesel Power Plant in Quezon.

The state-run agency opted the additional power supply of said energy plant
is aimed to boost local tourism and businesses and is set to deploy and
sustain the 24/7 power supply in the Polillo area.

Polillo's beaches are the underlined feature to the developing tourism sites
in the country, among others like the emerging businesses in the land.

"These gensets will ensure a more reliable power for more than 5,000
households in the the three municipalities of the island-Polillo, Burdeos,
and Panukalan," President and CEO Pio Benavidez said.

Napocor is currently serving 273 Small Power Utilities Group (SPUG) and
aside from fostering tourism and economic industries in the island,
infrastructure developments, health, and education are also guaranteed
growth and improvement.

Napocor continues to reach more islands in its priority to enhance its SPUG
power plants for better power supply.

Out of the 65 unit-target gensets, the local government unit has already
commissioned 13 gensets with a total of 4.22 MW as of March 2017.
