Green & Smart completes 2-MW biogas power plant in Malaysia

Green & Smart completes 2-MW biogas power plant in Malaysia

Green & Smart Holdings plc (LON:GSH) said Thursday the commissioning and
interconnection works for its 2-MW Malpom biogas power plant in Penang,
Malaysia have been completed.

The company is focused on generating power from biogas derived from palm oil
mill effluent (POME) in Malaysia. This is its second fully-owned biogas
power plant. The first is also of 2 MW.

Following a testing period, Green & Smart expects the Malpom facility to
become fully operational by the end of July. Shortly after that it should
receive a certificate of commercial operation date, which will allow it to
sell power to Malaysia's main utility company, Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB), at
the full tariff rate.

"With our first plant, Kahang, now selling power at the full tariff rate, we
are excited to soon commence power sales at Malpom and to progress our
extensive pipeline of other projects," said chief executive Saravanan
Rasaratnam.

Earlier this week, Green & Smart said it has raised up to GBP 552,759 (USD
701,000/EUR 628,000) through a private placement. It will use the funds to
bid for new quotas, progress with grid connection of the Malpom plant and
for working capital needs.
