Merakes appraisal well confirms gas extension offshore Indonesia

Merakes appraisal well confirms gas extension offshore Indonesia

Eni has completed drilling and testing of Merakes 2, the first appraisal
well of its Merakes gas discovery in the East Sepinggan block of the Kutei
basin offshore Indonesia.

Merakes is 35 km (21.7 mi) from Eni's Jangkrik field, expected to start
producing through an FPSO during 2Q.

The latest well, drilled to a depth of 2,732 m (8,963 ft) in 1,269 m (4,163
ft) water depth, encountered 17 m (56 ft) of clean sands with good
petrophysical characteristics of Pliocene age, confirming an extension of
the 2014 discovery.

Although the production test was limited by surface facilities, it recorded
strong gas deliverability from the Merakes reservoir: all necessary data and
information was compiled to perform studies for future commercial
exploitation.

Eni assesses that Merakes contains in-place gas of 2 tcf, with additional
potential to be evaluated.

It anticipates a tie-in to the Jangkrik FPSO via subsea facilities.
