Malaysia - Next FIT Allocation for Large Scale Solar Projects

The Energy Commission of Malaysia (Suruhanjaya Tenaga) has announced a new
competitive tender for the development of large scale solar photovoltaic
plant in Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah/Labuan. The capacity to be tendered
will be from 1MWac to 30MWac with a target aggregate capacity of 360MWac in
Peninsular Malaysia and 100MWac in Sabah/Labuan.

It is expected that the plant will be connected to the distribution grid and
the developer will enter into a power purchase agreement with Tenaga
Nasional Berhad (TNB) or Sabah Electricity Sdn. Bhd. (SESB) as offtaker. The
plant is expected to be commissioned in 2019-2020.

Potential bidders must have:

. previous experience in implementing power or related projects, including
experience of project finance and the operation of power plants or
electrical installation

. foreign participation in any bidding consortium must not exceed 49%, in
line with Malaysian Governmental policy.

Further information in respect of the bidding process criteria can be found
in the Request for Proposal document (RFP) which is available for sale until
28 February 2017. The closing date for the competitive tender is 1 August
2017 from the Energy Commission of Malaysia.
