Vietnam: Coal combustion for the first time in Unit N#2 boiler of Vinh Tan 4
According to the information from GENCO 3, at 12:20 on June 27, 2017, coal
burning for the first time at Unit#2 (600MW) of Vinh Tan 4 thermal power
plant (TPP) was successfully implemented This is an important milestone as a
basis for following testing steps with an aim to commercial operating Unit#2
at the end of 2017.
Previously, flue gas treating systems as flue gas desulfurization (FGD) by
sea water, electrostatic precipitator (ESP) of Vinh Tan 4 TPP were put into
operation right from coal combustion for guaranteeing clean environment
during testing process as well as when the TPP will be officially put into
operation (without a column of back smock).
Vinh Tan 4 TPP is one of the key projects invested by EVN. This is the first
in Vietnam large coal fired TPP with supercritical steam parameters. The
project includes two units by a capacity of 600 MW each (2x600 MW).
As planed, the first unit of the plant will be put into operation after 46
month development (at the end of 2017), the second unit expects to be in
operation after the first one for 6 months (in the second quarter of 2018).
The plant will be connected with national power system by power grid of 500
kV.
The project EPC general contractor is a consortium of DOOSAN (S. Korea),
MITSUBISHI (Japan), PECC2 and PACIFIC (Vietnam). The PECC2 and foreign
TRACTEBEL as main and sub consultants implement consulting and supervising
works.
