Vietnam and Cambodia strengthen the power system interconnection
During the visit of the General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to Cabodia, Mr.
Tran Tuan Anh, Minister of Industry and Trade (Vietnam) and Mr. Suy Sem,
Minister of Mines and Energy (Cambodia) signed of Memorandum of
understanding (MOU) on Vietnam - Cambodia cooperation for developing power
plants, interconnecting power system and power purchase.
Though the MOU, two sides will continue to carry out effectively signed
power purchase agreement as well as promote to study power interconnection
options between Vietnam and Cambodia.
In order to expand further ability of electricity exchange between Vietnam
Cambodia as well as regional countries, two sides agreed to facilitate
enterprises of both sides to invest in the projects for power
interconnection between two countries.
Ministry of Mines and Energy of Cambodia will create favorable conditions
for the enterprises of Vietnam to invest in developing power plant projects
with a priority of renewable energy projects within the framework of
Cambodian law.
The MOU participates in promoting cooperation potential of Vietnam, Cambodia
and the countries in framework of the multilateral cooperation forums as
ASEAN Power Grid Consultative Committee (APGCC), Greater Mekong Subregion
(GMS), Regional Power Trade Coordination Committee (RPTCC), and ASEAN Energy
Regulatory Network (AERN).
