Vietnam: The Operating Regulations of the National Steering Committee for
the Power Development

Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung (Head of the National Steering
Committee for Power Development) has signed a decision to promulgate the
Operating Regulations of the Stetering Committe.

Accordingly, the National Steering Committee is responsible to direct,
inspect and speed up construction investment works of the power plant and
grid projects, especially the focusing and urgent ones in the National Power
Development Planning approved by the Prime Minister. At the same time, the
Committee directs construction investment in infrastructures and contract
negotiation activities to import coal and liquefied natural gas (LNG) for
power generation, and also directs checks for implementing policies on
electricity purchase with foreign countries and renewable energy
development.

The Steering Committee including a head, deputy heads and members to work on
a part-time basis in unified focusing principle. The members of the
Committee are responsible for their assigned jobs. The head or authorized
person to decide the issues of the Committee.

The Office of the National Steering Committee is an advising division to
assist committee in synthesis of reports and coordination of works between
members of the committee and relevant ministries, agencies and location
authorities. The office also has duty to assist the committee to inspect and
monitor implementing projects, to make synthesis of the reports and propose
solutions for solving problems arising in process of implementing power
plant and grid projects in the National Power Development Planning.
