Indonesia: PT Geo Dipa Energi to add up to 275 MW of geothermal power by
2021
State-owned Geo Dipa Energi is pushing forward with the development of its
Dieng and Patuha geothermal power projects, that could add 275 MW of
geothermal power generation capacity by 2021.
State-owned PT Geo Dipa Energi is planning to deliver on the promise for
geothermal development in Indonesia, so the country's Vice President Jusuf
Kalla after a recent meeting with the company.
The company is in an important position to help the government of Indonesia
to reach its clean energy development goals, so Kalla. As reported by the
Jakarta Post, the Vice President stressed the importance of immediately
expanding geothermal power plants in Dieng, Central Java, and in Patuha,
West Java.
In the meetings with the Vice President, the President Director of Geo Dipa,
Riki Ibrahim reported on the progress for the Dieng and Patuha geothermal
projects of the company. The Dieng geothermal power plant will have an
installed capacity of 100 MW, and the Patuha project 175 MW when they start
operation by 2021.
With adequate and experienced staff, PT Geo Dipa is ready to develop further
projects with a long-term plan to develop up to 1,100 MW of geothermal power
generation capacity by 2030, so Riki.
The company is currently in a legal dispute with PT Bumigas Energi, related
to the cancellation for the joint development of the two power plant
projects. The legal problems have disrupted efforts to accelerate the two
projects.
