Laos: Kha Young Kham Begins Constructing Xe La Nong 3 Hydropower Project

Kha Young Kham has begun constructing the Xe La Nong 3 Hydropower Project, a
12.5 -megawatt hydropower plant valued at about US$31 million, in Ta-oy
district, Saravan Province.

The construction is expected to take three years to complete.

The launching ceremony for the construction was held last week in the
presence of President of the Party and State Inspection Committee of Saravan
Province Mr. Khamchan Chemsamone, President of the Kha Young Kham Company
Mr. Hadsady Thirakoun, and representatives of relevant authorities.

"Following authorization for the project by the government and local
authorities, the Kha Young Kham Company has focused financial resources on
conducting a feasibility study for the project," said Mr. Hadsady Thirakoun.


The company completed a power purchase negotiation with Electricity du Laos
in August 2016 and is currently preparing to relocate families that will be
affected by the construction of the Xe La Nong 3 Hydropower Project.
