Indonesia: PLN Increases Electricity Tariff

Indonesia: PLN Increases Electricity Tariff

The state electricity company (PLN) decided to raise electricity tariff for
900-VA household customers, a group that has been receiving price subsidies.
The increase will be applied gradually starting on January 1, 2017.

PLN corporate communication director I Made Suprateka, said Monday, January
2, 2017, that the tariff increase is part of the government's policy to
ensure that power subsidies are channelled to the right people.

"Starting from January 1, household customers with 900-VA subscriptions are
subject to a gradual tariff increase," Suprateka said on Monday, January 2,
2017.

The increase will be applied three times every two months, on January 1,
March 1, and May 1, 2017.

Suprateka said that with the gradual increase, electricity tariff for 900-VA
subscribers will increase from Rp 605 to Rp 791/kWh on January 1. On March
1, the tariff will be raised again to Rp 1,034/kWh, and on May 1, the price
will go up to Rp 1,352/kWh.

Starting from July 1, 2017, the 900-VA subscribers group will be subject to
an auto-adjusted tariff scheme just like the other 12 non-subsidized
customers groups, who currently pay Rp 1,467.28/kWh.
