Philippines: BCDA, Sunray Power partner for 100-MW solar-power project in
Clark Green City

THE Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) has partnered with
Sunray Power Inc. (SPI) to put up a 100-megawatt (MW) solar-power facility
in Clark Green City worth P11.75 billion.

Clark Green City, a metropolis spanning 9,450 hectares, is set to rise
within the 36,000-hectare property north of the Clark Freeport and Special
Economic Zone. Sunray has a lease agreement with BCDA for 260 hectares in
Clark Green City for the solar project.

"We at SPI are very enthusiastic about the long-standing partnership we've
had with BCDA. Solar is the power of the future and we will continue to work
together to provide clean and renewable energy not only to Clark Green City,
but through our other projects in Central Luzon, as well," SPI and Menlo
Renewable Energy Corp. (MREC) Chairman Salvador Zamora said. MREC is the
majority shareholder of SPI.

"The project will provide employment for 1,000 workers during construction
and at least 250 during operations," said Vivencio Dizon, BCDA president
and CEO. "Apart from mitigating the effects of climate change and global
warming, the Sunray 100-MW solar-power project also helps the local economy
of the area," Dizon said.

BCDA is implementing the Clark Green City Project, a flagship project of the
government. When completed, Clark Green City is expected to be home to 1.2
million residents and will open the doors to around a million jobs. Clark
Green City is predicted to contribute P1.57 trillion a year to the national
economy, an almost 4-percent share of the country's GDP.

Sunray Power is into the development of utility-scale, solar-electric power
generating facilities for the production, generation, sale and storage of
electricity harnessed from renewable-energy sources, such as solar, wind and
waste-to-energy technology.
