Philipines: Meralco Power rates to go down this October

Power distributor Manila Electric Company said Thursday electricity rates
will go down by PHP0.12 per kilowatthour this October.

'This translates to a reduction of around PHP24 in the electricity bill of a
household with monthly consumption of 200 kWh,' the power distribution
company said.

According to Meralco, the lower electricity rates this month was due to the
decline in the transmission and generation charges, which more than offset a
higher transmission charge.

'But there is no adjustment in distribution charge,' the power company
added.
