Indonesia: PLN Inaugurates 30 Electricity Infrastructures

- State power company PLN today, October 14, launched the operation of 30
electricity transmission and distribution infrastructure in West Java and
Banten. The facilities have a capacity of 2,600 KVA and a total voltage of
98.5 kilometers circuit.

"Customers can enjoy a more stable connection with lesser network losses,"
PLN regional director for West Java and Banten Murtaqi Syamsuddin said on
Friday, October 14.

The infrastructures consist of 24 substations and transformers as well as
six units of the transmitter. Murtaqi said additional networks are necessary
to sustain West Java's peak load that currently reaches 7,000 MW, with a
load growth of about 4.0 percent per year.

For Jakarta, PLN is providing a special strategy to implement a looping
system by constructing six extra high voltage substations (GITET) with a
capacity of 500 KV. The substations will surround the capital. The
substations are expected to operate from 2018 to 2019.

Murtaqi said that at the same time PLN is also planning to build large-scale
power plants in Jakarta's nearby areas: the Java 1 thermal gas power plant,
the Priok gas power plant, and the Muara Karang gas power plant.

Today's groundbreaking ceremony was held at the GITET Lengkong 500 KV with
500 MVA capacity. The project has an investment value of Rp389 billion.
