Indonesia: Electricity Consumption Grows by 7.85 Percent
State-owned electricity company PT PLN reported that consumption of
electricity in the first semester of 2016 reached 107.2 Terra Watt hour
(TWh) or grew by 7.85 percent compared to that in the same period in 2015,
which was at 99.4 TWh.
PLN Public Relations Senior Manager Agung Murdifi in his press release in
Jakarta on Sunday said that the growth of electricity consumption gives a
rise in the incomes from electricity selling for six months in 2016
amounting to Rp3.2 trillion or grow by 3.15 percent into Rp104.7 trillion
compared to the same period in 2015 at Rp101.5 trillion.
"The growth of consumption of electricity is in line with the rising number
of consumers until June 2016 into 62.6 million consumers or an increase by
1.4 million from the end of 2015 which was at 61.2 million consumers," Agung
said.
The rising number of consumers, he added, also raises the ratio of national
electrification from 88.3 percent in December 2015 into 89.5 percent in June
2016.
