Ayala nears construction start at Indonesian wind farm

Ayala nears construction start at Indonesian wind farm

The energy arm of Philippine diversified group Ayala Corp (PSE:AC) hopes to
start construction in the coming months of a wind farm in Indonesia.

The project's capacity will be below 100 MW, AC Energy Holdings Inc's
president John Eric Francia told reporters, without revealing the exact
figure. The firm will hold a stake of about 75%.

In the next five years AC Energy aims to invest nearly PHP 80 billion (USD
1.66bn/EUR 1.5bn) in some 1 GW of new power generation capacity. About 60%
of that will come from renewables, Francia has said and that statement was
confirmed by Ayala on Thursday. The company stressed that the "stated
investment commitment is still an estimate at this point as some projects
have not yet been identified."

Apart from Indonesia and at home, the Philippine company plans to also
acquire or develop greenfield projects in "select Southeast Asian markets",
including Vietnam and Myanmar.

AC Energy is expected to reach 1 GW of attributable capacity in the current
year and double that with the planned investments.
