Vietnam: The third unit of Trung Son HPP has been synchronized with the
National Power System

The third unit of Trung Son hydropower plant has synchronized with the
National Power System just after the second one just for over a month.

Trung Son Hydropower project has a total capacity of 260 MW (4x65 MW) and is
located in Trung Son commune, Quan Hoa district, Thanh Hoa province. The
project has been assigned by Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) to Trung Son
Hydropower Single Member Company Ltd, a subsidiary of EVNGENCO2 as the
investor. This is the first hydropower project sponsored by World Bank as
well.

When being completed, Trung Son hydropower plant will provide National Power
System with an average generation of 1.080 billion kWh per year, and
participate in flood control and irrigation for Ma River downstream. The
project also creates a new driving force for economic development and
poverty reduction in Quan Hoa district.

Developing Trung Son project, the investor set up the goal to minimize the
social and environmental impacts during construction and operation of the
project.
