Indonesia : Jakarta signs the green building "30:30 commitment"
The '30:30 Commitment' policy has recently been signed by Jakarta's
administration office in an effort to reduce energy and water consumption,
as well as to reduce carbon emissions of up to 30 percent by 2030. The
office has been working hand-in-hand with Jakarta Governor Regulation
No.38/2012 on the development of Green Buildings in the country.
According to Basuki "Ahok" Tjahja Purnama, Governor of Jakarta, there are
around 260 building managers with a total land area of almost 15 million
square meters to have confirmed their willingness in response to the
regulation.
He explained that the number is equal to the total potential of greenhouse
gas reduction of 605,000 metric tons per year, which has the potential to
save energy of over 850,000 megawatt per year and electricity usage of up to
USD 68.3 million.
With more focus on energy and water efficiency, indoor air quality and waste
management, implementation of construction projects and operational
management, Ahok will ensure that government buildings and flats are
required for compliance in regards to the regulation.
Furthermore, the "Jakarta Green Building Implementation Grand Design" has
been established by the Jakarta administration as a benchmark for every
stakeholders to achieve synergy to fulfill the 30 : 30 Commitment.
