Thailand: No plans yet to construct coal power plant in Thabsakae
Subdistrict in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province
The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) made known that it
has yet to consider a coal power plant in Thabsakae subdistrict in Prachuap
Khiri Khan province.
Thabsakae subdistrict recently petitioned EGAT to construct a coal power
plant in the area.
EGAT Spokesperson Saharat Boomphopakdee conveyed his gratitude towards the
citizens of Thabsakae subdistrict for their support of clean coal technology
and community development. However, he revealed that the energy authority
has yet to consider a construction plan, as the previous energy minister
indicated that a coal plant should not be constructed in the area.
He stated EGAT only has plans for developing a renewable energy plant in
Thabsakae subdistrict.
